Lack of substantial plot and character development aside, you have to give The Expendables credit: These guys know their audience. The poster for the aptly titled sequel, Expendables 2, shows a pile of perfectly chiseled action stars preparing to kick some ass. Each and every one, from Sylvester Stallone to a person by the name of Nan Yu, is holding a big freaking gun and showing off an impressive mean face. Stallone’s is best, though Terry Crews gives a valiant effort.

The poster promises more of the same from the first movie, but with a few noteworthy additions. Fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger will be happy to see the Governator back where he belongs (holding a giant gun), and a little Chuck Norris always goes a long way. The Hunger Games star and new Expendables addition Liam Hemsworth is notably absent, along with Jet Li and Randy Couture, though all three are credited at the top of the one sheet. Who knows, maybe the Miley Cyrus-ex was too pretty to play with the rest of the bad boys.

Expendables 2 opens on Aug. 17, 2012.
