The trailer for Brave, in theaters this June, has arrived. Watch it below. We’ve long heard that the plot revolves around an impetuous princess, Merida (voiced by Boardwalk Empire‘s Kelly Macdonald), who defies a custom sacred to her land and inadvertently unleashes chaos in the Scottish Highlands. She’s granted an ill-fated wish and must undo a beastly curse before it’s too late. I’m still not certain what that sacred custom is — only first-born sons can prove themselves? arranged marriage? — but it’s clear Merida wants her freedom and it’ll come at a price. What I am certain of: I could identity Macdonald’s voice anywhere, and I hope Merida’s mother ends up supporting her daughter because it would hurt me to not like Emma Thompson, who voices her.
