There will never be a role so perfectly constructed to win a Best Actor Academy Award as Colin Firth’s stammering monarch in The King’s Speech. That was the Oscar triple crown: A member of the royal family (ding!) with some sort of mental/physical defect (ding!) who fights Nazis (dingdingdingdingding!) Still, Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming performance as J. Edgar Hoover comes close: The film’s a period piece from Hollywood demi-god (and badass political commentator) Clint Eastwood, in which DiCaprio adopts an accent to play a historical figure in old-age make-up. A new FunnyOrDie video winks at J. Edgar‘s Oscar Bait-ness by suggesting that DiCaprio is desperate for an Academy Award. Nothing will stop him. Not even Brad “He’s so charming in Moneyball” Pitt.
