NCIS: Larry Miller to play curmudgeonly dad
Man, we are digging this ongoing trend on NCIS to meet the parents (and grandparents, and occasional sibling).
So who’s the latest actor to play a father figure on the popular CBS show?
EW has learned exclusively that the comedian and veteran TV actor has been cast as Ed Slater for the show’s Christmas episode airing in December. He’ll play the future father-in-law of Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
“Jimmy Palmer is engaged. And with fiancée Breena comes spending the holidays with his future in-laws,” explains Exec Producer and Showrunner Gary Glasberg. “We needed a curmudgeon with a sharp tongue and even sharper wit so we were thrilled when gifted actor/comedian Larry Miller expressed a desire to play Ed Slater. The holidays wouldn’t be complete without some family tension and fans are certainly going to get some. They may even see a side of Jimmy dealing with Ed they never expected.”
Over the past few seasons, NCIS has met the fathers of Jethro Gibbs (Ralph Waite) Tony DiNozzo (Robert Wagner) and Ziva David (Michael Nouri), along with the grandma of Timothy McGee (Lily Tomlin). This year, we even met Abby Sciuto’s brother, played by Daniel Louis Rivas.
