Community‘s stop-motion episode last season was one of the series’ finest, but this year, the comedy is taking a more musical approach to their holiday episode.

“We really go all out,” says Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley on the show. “We all sing, but I don’t know if it’s a musical. But there’s music. It’s not lines of dialogue that are sung, but we sing.”

EW caught up with Brown this weekend at the Reel Stories, Real Lives event in Los Angeles this weekend, which celebrated the Motion Picture & Television Fund. And while she was coy about the exact songs she would be lending her vocals to, she hints, “I sing whatever you would imagine Shirley would sing at Christmas. She loves Jesus … You’re not gonna guess it because it’s from the mind of [creator] Dan Harmon.”

Looking further ahead, Brown said fans can look for the return of Shirley’s husband, Andre (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) very soon, as they’re filming an episode together next week. “They just had their third baby last season. So this episode is going to show where they are right now with this relationship,” she says. “The baby should be maybe 9-10 months. You will see when the episode airs in January whether the relationship is good or not.” (With reporting by Carrie Bell.)
