The first time I watched the clip below from the History Channel’s Vietnam in HD, I was jarred by how compelling Michael C. Hall’s voice is even when he’s not narrating Dexter’s crazy thoughts. But it also felt a little like Dexter Morgan was telling me about Vietnam — and I couldn’t get enough.

Hall, who narrates the six-hour docudrama, which kicks off Nov. 8, is just one of the many celebrities whose name is attached to the captivating project that tells the story of Vietnam through the eyes of 13 men and women who were there. Other voice talent includes Adrian Grenier, Blair Underwood, Zachary Levi, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Jerry Ferrara, whose voice is featured below in one of two exclusive clips from the special.

Vietnam in HD airs Nov. 8, 9 and 10 at 9 p.m. ET on the History Channel.
