'Chuck' scoop: Carrie-Anne Moss fighting, romancing Casey -- PHOTOS
Carrie-Anne Moss makes her big debut on NBC’s Chuck on Friday and EW has two first-look action photos, plus a few words from the former Ms. Trinity herself.
As fans know, the actress is joining the show as Gertrude Verbanski, a former spy who now runs Verbanski Corp., the chief rival of Chuck’s new spy company Carmichael Industries. She’s ruthless and deadly, yet she also has a weak spot for her old rival John Casey. “It’s a love interest with some dysfunction,” Moss tells EW. “They have a history together and she’s using using her connections and powers to get close to him. They’re a match made in heaven.”
With all its pop culture references, will there be any shout outs to The Matrix?
“They’re doing it in other places, little nods, but not with me,” Moss says. “I didn’t want to play Trinity 10 years later. It’s been fun to play this tough woman with underlying passion for Casey.”
As for action scenes, Moss praised Chuck co-star Yvonne Strahovski as a quick study, and says learning choreographed fight scenes on a rapid TV production schedule has been a learning experience. “For The Matrix, I really trained to do those fights and here we learn it in 10 minutes,” she says, “I have one fight with Casey that’s funny and more of a courting kind of thing.”
Moss’ stint on Chuck begins this Friday at 8 p.m., and for those who missed the season premiere, that’s re-airing on Saturday night.
