The last time the Wachowskis adapted one of their own science-fiction creations for the big screen, they made motion-picture history with The Matrix. Twelve years after Neo awoke from his dreamworld to fight the humanity-hating computers, the Wachowski siblings — Andy and Lana — are poised to return to the action sci-fi genre with Jupiter Ascending.

A source close to the project confirms a Deadline report that the Wachowskis’ science-fiction script will likely be their next project following Cloud Atlas, their collaborative adaptation of David Mitchell’s time-shifting novel that stars Tom Hanks. Plot details for Jupiter Ascending are being kept under wraps, though it’s safe to assume the project is not linked in any way to the 1998 Bruce Willis movie, Mercury Rising.
