So Stefano Langone has sealed a record deal with 19 Entertainment. Don’t get me wrong — I became a big fan of the guy the second he ripped his shirt off at the American Idols LIVE! tour in Atlantic City. (So did my mother and every woman with a sense of humor in the audience.) So while I’m genuinely excited to see what kind of album American Idol‘s seventh-place finisher produces, I still can’t help but ask: Where the hell is Casey Abrams’ record deal?

Say what you will about Abrams — he’s he’s cocky, he totally blew it in the finals, he looks like a Fraggle — there’s no denying he’s season 10’s most musically talented contestant. Just see his Hollywood performance of “Georgia On My Mind,” which remains, in my opinion, one of the top 5 performances on American Idol ever. If he were given the opportunity to release a jazz album full of interpretations like “Georgia” — or his mind-blowing version of Santana and Rob Thomas’ “Smooth,” which he performed during the live tour — jazz could find its way onto the Hot 100 charts. Or, at least, the perennial fan in me would buy enough copies of his album to force jazz onto the Hot 100 charts.

So let’s make it happen. Who wants to start the petition in support of Abrams’ record deal? (Hell, if nothing else, he better at least share a duet with Haley Reinhart on her upcoming release.) We pray to you, Idol gods: Give Casey Abrams a record deal, dawg! Who’s with me?
