Prepare yourself, Oscar: The Weinstein Company has acquired rights to Sean Penn’s This Must Be the Place. The film — most well-known for featuring a Robert Smith-esque Penn — follows a faded rock star who searches for a former Nazi who once did his father wrong. (Some audiences already saw the film at Cannes.) The release date for the film, directed by Paolo Sorrentino, is not yet known. “Sorrentino is a true auteur,” Harvey Weinstein said in a press release, “We were gripped by his film and are excited to share it with American audiences. Sean proves once again that he is one of the finest actors of our time.”
