Maria Bello's 'Prime Suspect' lover is 'Friday Night Lights' producer -- EXCLUSIVE

Peter Berg is getting ready to step out from behind the camera.

The Friday Night Lights executive producer is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of NBC’s new police drama Prime Suspect (on which he’s also an executive producer). Berg will play a married Deputy Chief named Dan Costello on the show. Jane (Maria Bello) and Dan used to be lovers, and now rumors of their past affair have cast doubt on Jane’s recent promotion to homicide. The guest role is currently set for one episode.

Berg’s last TV acting gig was when he guest starred in 2008 for one episode on Lights (which just picked up some posthumous Emmys last night). Prime Suspect launches this Thursday at 10 p.m. and previously signed Jay Mohr as a guest star.
