The Fillmore Slim film has picked up Snoop Dogg like it’s hot. The Legend of Fillmore Slim — a biopic from Ames Universal and SRI Entertainment about the blues singer and guitarist — will star the rapper in the title role.

It seems a fitting role for Snoop — not only do the two bear a striking resemblance, but they both have had checkered pasts. (Snoop went to prison after being arrested for cocaine possession in the early ’90s; Slim, known as “The West Coast Godfather of the Game” and “The Pope of Pimping” worked as a pimp in San Francisco in the ’60s and ’70s.) Slim himself is excited about the casting — a rep for the guitarist told EW, “Snoop is like another son to [Slim]. [He] has always made it clear that Snoop was who he felt should play that role. He has carried that in his heart since we began our search to put the team for the film together.”
