Jeff Probst and I have had too many conversations about Survivor over the years for me to even count. Sometimes they are friendly. Sometimes they are funny. And sometimes…well, we just don’t see eye to eye. File this latest exchange under the last category. Of course, it was bound to happen. Jeff has gone on record as being a big fan of the most recent season, Survivor: Redemption Island. Me? Not so much. So once I referenced my displeasure with it in our chat on day one of Survivor: South Pacific filming, the door was open for Probst to register his thoughts about the season, the media, and, in particular, my coverage of the show. And he walked right through it.

It should be noted that I LOVE conversations like this. Probst and I have had our share of disagreements before (like our annual final two versus final three debate, for instance), and frankly, they are almost always more interesting than when we agree on something (which is far more often). Call it a healthy and respectful exchange of ideas — two opinionated dudes having at it, and then having a laugh when all is said and done. And while Probst may claim that “the press can no longer put a positive spin on anything,” he’s dead wrong when it comes to this video clip, because I think it’s simply fantastic! How’s that for positive spin? To enjoy Jeff’s rant in full, click on the video player below. And in case you missed it, make sure to check out the host’s explanation for why Ozzy and Coach were brought back. Finally, for more Survivor musings, follow me on Twitter @EWDaltonRoss.
