Everyone has a favorite Coen brothers movie. Mine’s Miller’s Crossing (1990, R, 1 hr., 55 mins.). The deliriously twisty homage to hard-boiled ’40s gangster flicks is the centerpiece of a new Blu-ray box set called From the Minds of the Coen Brothers — the other titles being Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, and Fargo. Gabriel Byrne smolders as a boozing political fixer who sees all the angles except for the curviest one (Marcia Gay Harden’s femme fatale). The Coens’ intricate puzzle-box story is stuffed with the kind of tough-guy patter and dirty double crosses that would blow Dashiell Hammett’s fedora off his head. If you haven’t seen it, do so, stat! It’s a masterpiece. A
