Being held aloft by Ryan Gosling would be a dream for plenty of girls. Just not Emma Stone. In Crazy, Stupid, Love (now in theaters), Stone plays a law student who falls for a ladies’ man (Gosling) after they somewhat jokingly replicate the famous Patrick Swayze-Jennifer Grey lift from Dirty Dancing. While the Gosling-Stone version looks graceful, Stone says the reality was anything but. ”I had primal fear,” laughs the actress, who lost her cool when it came time for the shot. ”I spider-monkeyed onto Ryan’s head and wrapped my body around him and kicked him in the throat and started to cry.” A double had to perform the actual jump, which is shown mainly from a distance. But Stone still contributed one thing to the stunt. ”The scream that you hear is actually mine.”
