Make It or Break It star Zachary Abel has landed a guest spot on The Secret Circle, the new multigenerational supernatural drama from The Vampire Diaries exec producer Kevin Williamson premiering Sept. 15 on The CW. In the premiere, orphaned Cassie (Britt Robertson) moves in with her grandmother in Chance Harbor, Wash., and learns that she’s a teen witch destined to bind powers with five others to complete a new generation of the Secret Circle. She also finds that she’s drawn to circle member Adam (Thomas Dekker) and hears that they are “written in the stars” — which Williamson is quick to say doesn’t mean what we think it means. If the fact that Adam has a girlfriend, Diana (Shelly Hennig), who genuinely wants to be Cassie’s friend, isn’t complication enough, in episode 3, a hot jock named Luke (Abel) will ask Cassie out.

“I was watching the dailies [Friday], and I think he’s doing a really great job,” Williamson tells EW. “So I’m very excited about that story.” As of now, it’s a one-episode appearance, but with the halls of Chance Harbor High needing to be populated, one never knows what might happen. Expect Cassie’s circle to spend more time at school than Elena and Co. do on TVD. “As much as I steer away from that sort of high school story line,” says Williamson, “they are in high school, and I do have a principal of the school [Natasha Henstridge] who is a central figure in the show. It’s always a really great place to start the story line in Act I. ‘There they are in the hallway.’ Then, of course, by Act II, it’s after school.” Williamson laughs. “There are grades, and homework, and school events that we have to acknowledge. There’s a world out there that we want to keep very real.”
