Dead Man (1996, R)
Johnny Depp, Robert Mitchum A surreal head trip of a Western from director Jim Jarmusch makes its Blu-ray debut. Visually gorgeous, but narratively it’s tough sledding. C-

Mars Needs Moms (2011, PG)
Seth Green, Joan Cusack Regardless of where you fall on the whole motion-capture CGI issue (cool vs. creepy), this animated comedy is a delightful fable about a kid trying to save his mother from curious space aliens. A-

Super (2011, R)
Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page Dwight from The Office dons a cape and declares himself the crime-fighting Crimson Bolt. There are some dark laughs, but it’s no Kick-Ass. B

Jumping the Broom (2011, PG-13)
Angela Bassett, Paula Patton Two African-American families — one rich, one working-class — get together for a wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. Needless to say, the festivities don’t go off without a hitch. (Also on iTunes) A-

Dark of the Sun (1968, PG)
Rod Taylor, Yvette Mimieux The old-school rah-rah action epic about badass commandos, diamonds, and the Congo makes its long-awaited DVD debut. Pass the popcorn. (Available through Warner Archive at B+
