Throughout her career, Reese Witherspoon has zigzagged unpredictably across various genres, taking on everything from Oscar-baiting dramas to animated kids’ movies. But for anyone who may have been hoping to see her return to broad romantic comedy in the wake of How Do You Know and Water for Elephants — well, your wish is being granted. EW has confirmed that, as first reported by Deadline, Witherspoon has signed on to star in Disney’s Wish List. (Witherspoon will next be seen starring opposite Chris Pine in the McG-directed action-comedy This Means War, which is slated for early next year.)

In Wish List, a young girl tosses a coin into a well and makes a series of 10 wishes. The coin gets stuck before it reaches the bottom of the well, but some 25 years later, with the girl now grown into a hard-charging career woman, it is suddenly dislodged and all of the childhood wishes start to come true. Anyone want to start placing bets on what some of the 10 wishes will be? There’s got to be a pony in there somewhere, right?
