George Clooney hasn’t directed a film since 2008’s Leatherheads, but we’ll be kind and say that he really hasn’t directed a film since 2005’s Good Night, and Good Luck. That film — coupled with his proud-liberal Oscar acceptance speech for Syriana — added a political charge to Clooney’s glamour-man stardom. So it makes sense that he’s made a film about a presidential election just in time for the early rumblings of the 2012 campaign. In the trailer for Ides of March, Clooney is Governor Mike Morris, Ryan Gosling is his brilliant staffer, and Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Paul Giamatti all play shady politicos. Also, Evan Rachel Wood plays a comely intern. If nothing else, this will whet your appetite until HBO’s Game Change. Check out the trailer:
