Kevin Smith made headlines earlier this year when he announced a unique release strategy for Red State, his horror film about a group of spooky fundamentalists who enjoy sending sexed-up sinners straight to hell. After purchasing the rights to his own film at Sundance, Smith set off on a movie-tour of the country. Now, the rest of the country will finally get to see the film: Red State will hit VOD in early September. The new trailer for the VOD release reveals quite a bit more of the plot than the earlier, scare-centric previews — we see a group of horny pop culture nerds straight out of Clerks getting taken prisoner by the cultlike Christian clan. Shenanigans ensue. More importantly, John Goodman and Kevin Pollak show up as law enforcement officials. Check out the (NSFW) trailer below:
