Alexandra Daddario has been cast in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, EW can exclusively confirm. The actress, who is best known for appearing in last year’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, will play the lead role of Heather.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is the seventh Chainsaw Massacre movie but is being hyped as a direct sequel to director Tobe Hooper’s infamous, original 1974 film. The movie starts filming later this month in Louisiana, which will continue the franchise’s tradition of being shot in pretty much the hottest conditions imaginable. “It’s going to be rough,” Daddario told EW. “I tried out Bikram yoga, that crazy hot yoga, to get used to the heat. But it’s actually good because it brings a sense of realism to what you’re doing. It will definitely be an experience.” The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is set for release on Oct. 5, 2012.

While the immediate future of the Chainsaw franchise is secure, that of the Percy Jackson movies remains up in the air, according to Daddario. “I know they would like to go forward with [a second film], and I would jump at the chance to reprise my character, but we haven’t heard anything officially,” says the actress. “I feel we’re getting close. You keep hearing more and more as time goes on. But it’s a crazy business. You don’t know anything for sure until it’s definitely sure.”
