Bill Maher says Sarah Palin could be president
During his appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight Monday, Maher told the CNN host, “I never say anything purposefully to piss people off. But I say what I feel, and that will piss a lot of people off.” That could be an understatement. On Friday night, Maher used Real Time to address the controversial Casey Anthony verdict — and compare Republican voters to the much-aligned jurors in the case. Speaking about Republican tax policy, and how it affects the middle class (a demographic that makes up a large faction of votes for the party), Maher said, “[Half of U.S. voters] say, ‘I’m with the party that cuts all these programs for real people, for the 99 percent. Planned Parenthood, environmental protection, college, health care, infrastructure, but holds the line on private jets.’ Voting for them is as stupid as voting not guilty for the mom who lost her baby for a month and went looking at a wet t-shirt contest.”
But, as expected of Maher, the comedian only had more to say about the party who he claimed on Real Time “got on the short bus to crazytown” during his Piers Morgan tonight appearance last night. When given the option between Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann for the 2012 GOP candidate, Maher at first said he hoped the two would “split the MILF vote” before opting for the Minnesota congresswoman. “At least she’s somebody who could read,” he said. As for whether or not Palin could actually get elected, Maher voted, “Absolutely.” After all, he said, there was a time when the majority thought actor-turned-president Ronald Reagan was a joke.
At this point, Maher has unleashed so many controversial comments during his career (remember those 9/11 comments on Politically Incorrect?) that it’s hard to imagine that anyone in the conservative party would find themselves offended by his words over the past week. (If the comedian insults Republicans in the middle of a Tea Party convention, does he make a sound?) Personally, I’m more taken aback about his comments regarding his strong libido. TMI, my friend. Either way, the Real Time host’s comments have led to several headlines (like this one), so seems he’s getting the biggest laugh out of his own comments.
