If Wes Anderson made a Deep South-set, backwoods horror movie, it might look something like the Septien, which debuts tonight at New York’s IFC Center and is also available on VOD. Then again, it might not.

Truth be told, this Sundance-approved tale of two brothers (Onur Turkel, Robert Longstreet) who live out in the woods, a third brother (magnificently bearded director Michael Tully) who returns to live with them, and a farmhand (Jim Willingham) who appears to live in a tire is not the easiest tale to sum up in a few words. It isn’t even really a horror film, although the movie does boast a nicely ominous atmosphere — as well as sports hustling, gas huffing, and a very weird collection of paintings.

You can check out both an exclusive clip from Septien (featuring some NSFW language) and the movie’s trailer below. Take a look and tell us what you think.
