My first thought after last week’s surprise non-elimination on So You Think You Can Dance was the the bottom seven dancers dodged a major bullet. Maybe I was just in a cranky mood, maybe my snark demon Smirkelstiltskin was just in a fabulous mood, but I was underwhelmed by almost all of their dance-for-your-life solos, especially the ones by the two best known dancers among them: Jordan “I Wanna Be a Pussycat Doll Alternate on the ‘B’ National Tour” Casanova and Robert “I Wanna Be an Electric Company Cast Member Circa 1975″ Taylor Jr. Had I been Nigel, I would’ve sent those two home in a heartbeat.

But, of course, I’m not Nigel — and that’s a good thing, for many reasons, not the least of which is I am nowhere near as diabolical as he is. Because my second thought about last week’s SYTYCD results show is what better way to goose the ratings and the competitive fire of his lagging contestants than to throw a double elimination surprise for this week? It’s a win win!

So who has the most to prove on tonight’s show to stay in the competition? You know how I feel about Jordan and Robert already — and oddly enough, their respective partners, Tadd Gadduang and Miranda Maleski, both showed promise last week. And so long as he remains injury-free, I’d say Mitchell Kelly’s dancing skill and catchphrase-y personality should likely serve him fine. No, I’d say Jess LeProtto and his partner Clarice Ordaz still have the most work to do, in opposite directions — Jess needs to dial down the grating cutesy personality big time, and Clarice needs to dial up the personality to make any impression at all.

You can check out my recap of tonight’s episode tomorrow morning, but in the meantime fellow Dance fiends, who do you think is most at risk going into tonight’s performance show?
