Columbia Pictures has optioned remake and sequel rights to the 2007 Japanese movie, Big Man Japan, and hired Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (Clash of the Titans) to write a screenplay. The original movie, directed by Hitoshi Matsumoto, tells the story of an accident-prone head of the Department of Monster Prevention, who uses electricity to grow 10 stories tall to protect the citizenry from Godzilla-sized creatures.
