On the first day of primetime’s summer stretch, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance returned higher than last year.

With Mary Murphy back in the judges chair, the show climbed 7 percent from last year’s first episode, giving Fox a great start against, well, against zero original competition on broadcast at least. Dance was seen by 9 million viewers and a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating, numbers anybody would take for the off-season (or for in-season for that matter). In fact, this was the most-watched Dance premiere in four years.
