Well, it’s not the epic battle of the sexes some expected, but Beyoncé‘s new “Run the World (Girls)” video is certainly a contender for best dance video of the year so far.

Last night, the R&B diva premiered the video for the first single from her upcoming album, 4, on American Idol. In the Francis Lawrence-directed clip, Beyoncé and more than 200 dancers breath new life into the Major Lazer-sampling cut.

With all due respect to her contemporaries, no one brings it like Beyoncé when it comes to her steps—intricate, fun, and executed flawlessly. Britney Spears’ moves are all but gone. And though Gaga tried, she couldn’t hold a candle to her two-time partner in crime, especially in “Video Phone.”

So here’s Queen B, leader of an angry army in the Mojave Desert, stepping in the name of girl power. Check it out after the jump.

Beyoncé’s 4 hits stores June 28. Does the video make you excited for its release? Let us know in the comments section.
