As the line from Romeo and Juliet goes, “For you and I are past our dancing days.” Such was the case for Romeo and his partner Chelsie Hightower, who were the latest couple to be booted from the Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday.

“To be honest, I feel good,” Romeo told reporters after the show. “If this was last week, my head would be down. It’s one of those things [if] you go out with a bang, you have no regrets. I gave it 110% yesterday. I felt it was one of our best dances ever and to still get eliminated it shows the level of competition of this year. I’m just really grateful to be part of this season.”

He’s right: The couple’s tango to Britney Spears’ “Hold it Against Me” was one of their best dances all season, a point that was seconded by judge Carrie Ann Inaba. But the duo earned a 27 for the routine and a 25 for their instant salsa for a total score of 52, leaving them second to last on the leader board behind Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff. Since Macchio’s fan base is strong and is favored for the finals, Romeo seemed like the obvious choice for elimination.

“To go now is kind of unreal and sad because I wanted to win this thing for her,” Romeo said about his partner, adding that he’s also received words of encouragement from celebrities like Will Smith and Miley Cyrus. “This show definitely changed my life for the rest of my life. A lot of people don’t know that I was afraid of dancing. I was that kid who never danced. I turned down a lot of movies because I didn’t want to dance.”

So who is his pick for the mirror ball trophy? “Everybody is super strong,” Romeo admitted. “It could literally be any one of the four. It all just comes down to mostly who has the best freestyle in the finale. And at that point, Mark [Ballas] has done some very [cool] freestyles, so it might be Chelsea [Kane]. Or it might be Kirstie. You never know.”
