Almost exactly one month after L.A. Reid told reporters that Cheryl Cole would be joining The X Factor judging panel, Fox has made it official: The British singer, who judged the U.K. version of X Factor, will sit alongside Reid and Simon Cowell in the U.S. version of the reality show. And it looks like we can already expect some chemistry between Cole and the former American Idol judge: “I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” Cowell said in a release from Fox. “She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

And Cole is game to stand up to Cowell as well. Said the Girls Aloud singer in a release: “I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.” But the judge casting isn’t over — there’s still one more slot to fill. Cowell has tossed around Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, or George Michael as possible judges, but Fox has remained mum at this point. High School Musical‘s Corbin Bleu and Nicole Scherzinger are in talks to serve as co-hosts.
