Last Night Review - Keira Knightley

”You can be happy and still be tempted.” So says Michael (Sam Worthington), one half of a chic New York couple whom we follow in parallel extramarital flirtations. Will Joanna (Keira Knightley), reunited with an old flame (Guillaume Canet), go to bed with him? Will Michael give in to the seductions of his colleague (Eva Mendes)? The will-they-or-won’t-they structure is a bit facile, but Last Night is on to something fascinating. It meditates on the meaning of adultery: the purposes it serves, beyond sex. Knightley and Worthington create a fragile, touching chemistry. (Also available via on demand) B+
