Every generation needs its Alanis Morissette, and Perri, a then-unsigned artist whose career exploded after her fervent ballad ”Jar of Hearts” appeared last summer on So You Think You Can Dance, oughta know. Her voice, as sweet and full as custard, can get lost in overplayed angst, and there are too many chilly ballads. But her cabaret-kissed swagger on ”Bang Bang Bang” and ”Mine” saves lovestrong. from frostbite — and makes its jagged little pills go down easy. B
