Just how cool would it be to get HBO on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device? You’re about to find out. The much-anticipated HBO GO app has just landed in Apple’s App Store and the Android Market. If you’re an HBO subscriber and have an iOS or Android device, then you can download the app for free and get started. (The big exceptions so far are people on Time Warner Cable or Cablevision, which were not available at launch. HBO says 80 percent of subscribers currently have access.) The initial offerings are enticing, with about 200 movies, including titles like Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Date Night, and HBO’s own Cinema Verite. The TV offerings are even more impressive, with current shows like Game of Thrones and True Blood, and complete episode collections of older favorites like The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and Six Feet Under. Can the app also give us more hours in the day to devour it all?
