This time, alas, there was no save to give. Casey Abrams, the American Idol contestant who’d been to the brink before, only to be rescued by the judges during Top 11 week, was voted off after Wednesday night’s rendition of “Hi-De-Ho That Old Sweet Roll.” He said goodbye last night as only he could: with an exuberant version of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell on You,” that had him kissing the ladies in the front row, high-fiving the judges, and jumping into the arms of his fellow contestants. Watch his finale performance embedded after the jump. Did you see Casey’s run coming to an end so soon, and will you miss his unique musical style?
