CBS has been blessed with few outright disappointments this season, but Friday night’s debut of Chaos was a super soft premiere.

The spy show about a group of rogue CIA agents delivered 6.4 million viewers and a 1.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating at 8 p.m. — below the average for The Defenders in the slot (which wasn’t exactly burning up the Nielsens either). Over on ABC, the second week of Shark Tank (4.8 million, 1.2) did not improve on last week’s  premiere, but with the network’s news magazines performing stronger, ABC had its best Friday in seven weeks.

With Fox and The CW in repeats, the bright scripted spots remained CBS’ CSI: NY (10.3 million, 1.7) and Blue Bloods (10.7 million, 1.7).
