She displayed remarkable poise for a 16-year-old being scrutinized by over 20 million people every week. But Thia Megia’s poise may have been seen as a lack of personality by the voting public, and in turn may be the reason she was eliminated this week on American Idol. When I met with Thia at our Entertainment Weekly photo shoot, she discussed her concerns about being seen as too serious, while promising that she was just a normal teenager who texts her friends and doesn’t clean her room. But what now? Where does Thia want her career to go from here? Whom will she be voting for now that she’s gone? And how is she feeling about the upcoming American Idol summer tour? See for yourself after the jump with some snippets from our chat just a few days before Thia was cut loose from the show. Then check back tomorrow for more with the other ousted contestant, Naima.
