Is Little Gray’s fling with Dr. Jackson Avery over before it really gets going?

Well, if you remember the steamy shower scene where we last saw Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and Jackson (Jesse Williams), you know we needn’t worry about that. It’s on. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a huge helping of awkward in the cards for the pair when Grey’s Anatomy returns for new episodes this Thursday.

“A few weeks have gone by, and in this episode coming up this Thursday, you see more of a development between Lexie and Jackson,” Leigh dishes. “Lexie is able to kind of just enjoy herself, and it’s refreshing — very ‘no strings attached.’ But [when] Mark starts to find out what happens, he doesn’t necessarily react so well.”

Sure, Mark has had his share of side dishes — um, he is going to be a father again soon, after all — but the difference, says Leigh, is that Lexie might have more than a fling on her hands.

“We definitely see that [Lexie and Jackson have] spent time together,” she says. “They’re in the same place in their lives. They want the same thing. So what starts out as something that seems kind of a bit flingy, turns into a bit of a relationship. Nobody is dropping the ‘L word’ or anything, but you start to see a little bit more of a development and potential that something could really happen there.”

In a perfect situation, however (see: no affairs with lesbians, no unplanned pregnancies, etc.), Leigh believes Mark and Lexie were meant to be.

“When it comes down to it, and when you strip everything else away, Mark and Lexie still love each other,” she says. “[But] that’s not where she is. So it is definitely a difficult situation between Lexie and Mark.”

Consider us torn, readers.
