'The Bachelor' finale: Fans still like those (short-lived) engagements!
The frightening sight of an overly-therapized (therapied?) guy picking a tragic single mom helped ABC to take Monday in total viewers (13.8 million) and adults 18-49 (4.5 rating/12 share), according to early estimates. Granted, the finale of The Bachelor No. 15 was the lowest-rated season finale in almost three years (since Bachelor: London Calling on May 12, 2008) but it was up 29% versus its most recent regular telecast. The finale earned a 4.5/12, rocked most of the female demos, and averaged 13.8 million.
After the Final Rose did even better: It lured 13.9 million viewers and posted a 4.7/12 in the key demo. Lordy!
Fox was the second for the night in the key demo and total viewers. House earned a 3.5/10 and 10.2 million viewers, while The Chicago Code earned a 1.9/5 and 7.2 million.
And a special shout-out to Harry’s Law: The NBC drama averaged 10 million viewers, delivering its best total viewer performance since Jan. 31 despite the competition from that freakin’ After the Rose trainwreck. Take that, Ken Tucker!
