'American Idol' exit Q&A video: Ashthon Jones says she 'wasn't surprised' to go home -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO
Ashthon Jones, American Idol‘s resident “diva” this season, says she wasn’t surprised that she was the first finalist sent home from the show. “I kind of felt it,” she told EW in video interview backstage an hour after the results show had ended. “But I still kept the faith.” (She even tweeted her premonition hours before the show.) When discussing her regret for choosing a lesser known Diana Ross ballad to sing, Ashthon shared that Idol judge Jennifer Lopez told her after the show, “If I ever get an album, make sure I have hit songs on there.” And as for whether being called a “diva” by Lopez may have put some people off, Ashthon was philosophical. “A diva is not always a person that has that attitude, you know, ‘I’m all that,'” she said. “I like to dress, I love to have make-up on, I like to do my hair…. I love to have confidence, but that confidence doesn’t come from myself. It comes from God, and that’s what I wanted America to see.”
