Sunshine (7 million viewers, 2.4 preliminary adults 18-49), up 9 percent, was helped by usual rival American Idol (20.6 million, 7.7) ending a half hour earlier than usual so that Fox could give struggling comedy Traffic Light some love by airing a 9:30 p.m. special episode of the show instead. It worked, too: Light (7.4 million, 2.8) jumped 75 percent from last week’s non-Idol-boosted episode on Tuesday.

CBS for the night was second with Survivor (11.3 million, 3.3) gaining for the second week in a row, up 6 percent, followed by Criminal Minds (14.3 million, 3.6) up 13 percent and Suspect Behavior (10.3 million, 2.6) boosted 8 percent to win 10 p.m.

ABC also aired The Middle (8.1 million, 2.3), Better With You (5.9 million, 1.8), Modern Family (10.1 million, 4.1) and a flat Off the Map (5 million, 1.7).

NBC had an original Minute to Win It (3.6 million, 1.0) and repeats. The CW ran America’s Next Top Model (2 million, 0.9) and Shedding for the Wedding (1.1 million, 0.4), both slipping from last week’s premieres.
