Wes Craven orders more screen time for stars Alison Brie, Aimee Teegarden, and Britany Robertson

Scream 4 has already had its share of drama with the separation of married stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox, as well as rumored script rewrites. So when Wes Craven tweeted that production had resumed in Michigan — and included a picture of costar Alison Brie, who had wrapped her role in the film last year — online fans began to fear that the film (out April 15) was being reshot. But the director tells EW exclusively that they were simply adding to two pivotal encounters. ”They’re not reshoots,” says Craven from the Detroit set. ”We had a couple test screenings, and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to. We just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me, basically, ‘You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!’ ” As for reports that the ending was being retooled? ”No, the ending is totally kick-ass,” he says. ”We’re not gonna touch that. [We’re adding to] one scene that’s kind of in the beginning and one scene that’s a bit later.” More specifically, the scenes are Brie’s Ghostface attack in a parking garage plus a sequence in which Friday Night LightsAimee Teegarden and Life Unexpected‘s Brittany Robertson meet the killer. Most challenging, though, has been the bad weather. The initial four-day shoot was extended because of a giant snowstorm. Says Craven, ”Yesterday we shot Ghostface standing in a doorway with literally a blizzard behind him that we’re going to have to take out with CGI. This will be probably the first movie that shows Ghostface with mittens.”
