Lindsay Lohan to be charged with felony grand theft
Image Credit: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.comAs rumored over the weekend, the Los Angeles District Attorney office confirmed today that Lindsay Lohan would be charged with one count of felony grand theft Wednesday. The charge stems from reports that the troubled actress had allegedly stolen a necklace worth $2,500 from a store in Venice, Calif., on Jan. 22. She will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. PT on Feb. 9.
Lohan (pictured, right, outside the Santa Monica courthouse today) is still on probation from her 2007 misdemeanor DUI. The actress served three months in jail last year after violating her parole; after her release, she was spared more prison time after testing positive for drugs. At the time, Judge Elden S. Fox told her she could be sent back for sixth months if she didn’t stay out of trouble. Over the weekend, Lohan’s lawyer denied the theft allegations in a statement, but has not immediately responded to EW’s request for comment regarding the charge.
