CMT’s first scripted series broke ratings records for the network Friday night, as Ed Asner’s Working Class delivered 1.2 million viewers. That’s the biggest debut for any original series in CMT’s history, though its young adult numbers were modest by comparison (0.5 rating).

The night was topped by Discovery Channel’s hit Gold Rush: Alaska, which had 3.4 million viewers (1.3 in demo). Over on Starz, the second episode of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena held last week’s record premiere high of 1.1 million viewers (0.5).
