Image Credit: Michael Tran/FilmMagic.comThe Brits just do large ensemble romantic comedies better. But maybe Sienna Miller will bring a touch of that effortless feel to Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve. According to Variety, she’s joined the cast that includes Robert De Niro, Hilary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher, Abigail Breslin, and Til Schweiger. Like Valentine’s Day (and Love, Actually), multiple romantic story lines intersect, this time on New Year’s Eve in New York City. Valentine’s Day director Marshall is expected to return to his post, as is screenwriter Katherine Fugate. The plan is to release the film this December.

As someone who sees pretty much every romantic comedy to test my high tolerance level, I’m in. Does hearing about this cast give you hope? Or are you not eager for a Valentine’s Day repeat (Lisa Schwarzbaum gave that movie an F)? If you’re feeling the latter, the good news is this may be the last truly romantic holiday upon which Marshall can set a film. Though I’d like to pitch him my idea for Sadie Hawkins Day. Other suggestions?
