The first domestic trailer for Greg Mottola’s Paul — out March 18 and starring Shaun of the Dead buddy team Simon Pegg and Nick Frost — has hit the Interwebs, and while it’s not staggeringly different from the international trailer that circulated before the holidays, we still get some new bits and, most notably, some screen time for Jane Lynch. Her mere presence, of course, only serves to remind me what kind of pressure Paul‘s got resting on its shoulders: The film — about two men (Pegg and Frost) who happen upon a friendly, everyman alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) — is jam-packed with comedy all-stars like Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, David Koechner, and Jeffrey Tambor. Seems impossible for Paul to disappoint, right?

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I’ve got my fingers crossed, even if that final blackbird scene is far to reminiscent of the dove scene in Mars Attacks!. But since that film was criminally underrated, perhaps Paul will set its phaser to funny.
