Are Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly making a 'Step Brothers' rap album? We hope so!
It’s rare, but every once in a while a celebrity tweet breaks through the white noise of the Internet and makes you sit up and take notice like a shih tzu hearing a dog whistle. Take this one from Will Ferrell’s FunnyorDie.com cohort Adam McKay yesterday: “Are we currently working on a Step Bros rap album? Yup.”
Now, if you’re a fan of that 2008 Ferrell-John C. Reilly comedy (which McKay wrote and directed), this seems too good to be true. After all, their fake video for “Boats n Hoes” was hip hop gold — and easily the best thing in the movie. But a whole album from the good folks at Prestige Worldwide? Come on. This is a joke right? Well, two hours later, McKay uncorked a follow-up tweet: “I wasn’t kidding about Step Bros rap album. And we just found out we have a crazy big time producer. Mos Def, you up for a guest flow?”
When reached for comment, Ferrell’s publicist didn’t deny the accuracy of the Twitter tease. Which, frankly, is good enough for us. Because we’d kill for more rhymes like this one: “Put on your life vests, let’s drop anchor/ There’s a nice lady, I’d like to spank her.” Until then, though, why not check out the (NSFW) “Boats n Hoes” clip below and let us know how you feel about Dale and Brennan dropping some more old-school science.
