David O. Russell is one busy guy. A rep for the director — whose December brawler drama The Fighter is winning serious Oscar buzz — confirms to EW that he is circling The Silver Linings Playbook, a quirky romance about a high school teacher who spends time in a mental hospital, as a possible directorial project, after signing on to pen the screenplay for the Weinstein Company project back in 2008. That’s in addition to his upcoming movie adaptation of the treasure-hunting videogame Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. But the rep also makes clear Russell is not yet sure which film he’ll tackle next. EW has also learned Russell hasn’t yet submitted a screenplay for Uncharted, which could reportedly be the filmmaker’s fourth collaboration with star Mark Wahlberg. So might as well keep searching for El Dorado while you wait — this may take awhile.
