Emma Stone's blonde 'Spider-Man' hair: Does she look like Gwen Stacy yet?
Image Credit: Chris Hatcher/PR PhotosWhen Emma Stone was cast as Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, the news was doubly surprising. First, because Emma Stone’s whole onscreen persona — bubbly, brassy, redheaded — seems like a natural fit for Spidey’s other love interest, Mary Jane. But on a grander scale, Stone’s casting was a complete break from a sainted superhero movie tradition: The actress who dyes her hair red. (See: Kirsten Dunst in the original Spider-Men, Famke Janssen in the X-Men trilogy, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow in the Iron Men…yeesh, somebody working at Marvel in the ’60s must’ve had a serious ginger fixation.) Stone (who, to be fair, is actually a natural blonde) has now unveiled her new look, and it is…well, is bang-tastic a word? No? Well, perhaps it should be. Get on it, Dictionary.com! (No, not you, Urban Dictionary.)
Even with the blonde hair, Stone still looks more like a Mary Jane than a Gwen, but I have to admit: This hairstyle looks so insane that it’s actually making me more interested in seeing the movie. What do you think, PopWatchers? First impressions? Am I the only one who finds deeply fascinating symbolic layers hidden within Emma Stone’s hair?
