Image Credit: Amanda Edwards/WireImage.comTNT has confirmed with EW that Rachael Leigh Cook will co-star with Eric McCormack in Perception. The new series revolves around a crime-solving neuroscientist Geoffrey Pierce (McCormack) who lends his talents to the federal government in order to solve complex cases. Cook will be playing FBI agent Kate Rossi, Pierce’s former student who has since recruited him to work for the government.
Can you believe that it’s been 11 years since Cook played Laney Boggs, the “art freak,” opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. in She’s All That? Sure, you may scoff at the title, but in addition to having a huge dance number, a school with an in-house DJ and outdoor lockers (which, behind a house with two staircases, is what I wanted most growing up. Damn you, New York winters!), this ’90s Cinderella story managed to fit Usher, Lil’ Kim, Anna Paquin, Kieran Culkin, Dulé Hill, and Kevin Pollack into the same 95-minute film. Since her big “Kiss Me” moment, Cook has most notably had a recurring role on Psych and done voice work for Seth Green’s Robot Chicken series (yet may be most remembered for her intense anti-drug commercials). Have you been waiting patiently for her career fully take off? Will this leading role be the vehicle to make her more of a household name? And what kind of chemistry do you think she’ll have with McCormack?
And speaking of She’s All That, since
Laney Rachael is sensitive to bets, let’s take a poll. (You didn’t really think I’d post this without asking you a question, did you? Oh, you did? That’s so sweet.) Which ’90s high school movie star are you hoping to see make a comeback next? Vote after the jump!
