HBO has confirmed with EW that the network will not be picking up The Miraculous Year, which delves into a well-connected New York family. The pilot — directed by Hurt Locker helmer Kathryn Bigelow — starred Frank Langella as the family’s patriarch, Norbert Leo Butz as his Broadway composer son, and Hope Davis as his lawyer daughter. Susan Sarandon and Lee Pace also guest starred in the pilot. According to Deadline, HBO chose to not pick up the pilot because it’s concept “was probably too narrow.”
