STARRING James Franco
WRITTEN BY Danny Boyle, Simon Beaufoy
DIRECTED BY Danny Boyle

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle trades the chaos of India for the breathtaking isolation of the canyons near Moab, Utah, where, in 2003, mountain climber Aron Ralston cut off his own arm to free himself from a boulder that had slipped and trapped him. The title refers to the brutal amount of time Ralston, played by James Franco, spent alone in that cavern. ”The story is so primal,” says Franco. ”It’s about a man dealing with himself and confronting death.”
